A Roman Blind Kit Can Bring Your Windows to Life!

Great versatility is the main characteristic of a roman blind kit. Different styles and fabrics can create strong fashion statements or underline the atmosphere of a room. Fabric options are almost unlimited, as you can choose from a vast range of textures, patterns and colours.

There are 3 main styles of roman blind hardware, all of which can be considered in a roman blind kit. These are a traditional baton style, a cassette style, where the mechanics are located within the headrail and a spool type roman blind kit.

A roman blind kit should comprise of the following items, headrail, rods, cord, rings, and a bottom weight bar. The headrail is for attaching the finished blind to. "Velcro" would be fitted to the front of the headrail, which will mate with the "Velcro" sewn to the fabric. The rods form the fold in the blind and can be made from wood dowel, steel rod or for sheers and voiles, clear plastic. Cord is used to raise and lower the blind, and can either be pulled up directly into a cord spool, as used on a cassette style blind, or be fed through cord guides which are placed along the length of the blind into a main cord connector.

The cord guide system is found on the more traditional roman blind kit. Rings are sewn onto the back of the blind in line with the rods; the rings act as a guide for the cord as it runs down the drop of the blind. The last ring is attached to the bottom weight bar, as the name suggests the bottom weight bar adds weight to the bottom of the blind enabling the blind to look crisp and flat when the blind is down and adding a sharp definite line when the blind is raised.
