Blind Accessories

From roller blinds to vertical blinds, venetian blinds to roman blinds, there is a vast array of different styles and varieties of blinds available on the market today. The majority of blinds purchased as made to measure are not in need of blind accessories, however there are many little blind accessories available to make life easy for the operator.

First and foremost, probably one of the most important blind accessories is a cleat or a cord holdfast. A cleat can be a plastic or metal object with two projecting horns to which cords may be fastened by winding the cord around the horns, to keep them from slipping. A cord holdfast as the name depicts is used to hold the cords "fast" by winding the cord around a peg which is normally angled at about 45 degrees. So that when a blind, for example a venetian blind, is pulled up, the cords can be secured to the cleat or holdfast to prevent the blind from coming down.

Other very useful blind accessories are cord connectors. The is especially useful when a blind has several cords, for example a roman blind, which needs to be connected to make one cord. This small discreet bit of kit has apertures at each end and normally comes in 2 parts that can be screwed together. The main pull cord which is thicker than the other cords is inserted into the hole and knotted to prevent it from pulling through the hole. The multitude of cords are inserted into the other hole and are also knotted, the two halves are then joined together to make a single unit. You now have numerous cords going into one hole and only one cord coming out of the other. The cords are connected.
